Writing and Grammar
How We Teach Writing at Park Lane
Writing at Park Lane is planned to ensure our children are given a broad, rich and interesting diet of different genres. We link our writing as closely to our guided reading or wider curriculum subjects. Our aim in writing is to encourage children to develop their understanding of their role as an author and encompass reading for pleasure into their own writing.
In line with national moderation processes, we use work produced in both daily English and assessed tasks to make a Teacher Assessment to inform our next units.
Units of work tend to follow a similar structure to deepen children’s knowledge of a genre and authorial techniques.
Below is the structure of how we plan our writing units.
